Blood Moon 2025: Total lunar eclipse drenches night sky in copper light
A deep total lunar eclipse on Sept. 7–8, 2025 turned the full moon copper-red for 82 minutes, visible to around 85% of the world across Asia, Australia, Africa, and Europe. Asia and Western Australia saw the full show; the Americas missed it. The color came from sunlight filtered through Earth’s atmosphere. This eclipse capped an eclipse season that also brought a partial solar eclipse on Sept. 21.
